This brilliant and adventurous pianist has the distinction of graduating from the bandstand school of Grammy winners, Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln. Having set the Washington, D.C., go-go band groove, Marc Cary remains one of the progenitors of contemporary jazz. He has earned four Grammy nominations for his ensemble work, the last of which was the 2009 nomination for Best Contemporary Jazz Album as a participant in the Stefon Harris & Blackout release, Urbanis (Blue Note records).
