MUSEUM HOURS
FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MUSEUM IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED.
We are scheduled to reopen in early 2021.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, The Newark Museum of Art has made operational decisions in the best interests of safety for its members, visitors, staff and the community. In light of the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in New Jersey and the region, and in support of the City of Newark’s enhanced public health measures, the Museum has made the decision to extend its building closure until early 2021.
Until it reopens for in-person visitors, we will continue its full schedule of virtual offerings, bringing the Museum and its programs to our community in the comfort and safety of their homes. Click here for details.
We thank our members and the general public for their ongoing patience as we navigate these unique and uncertain times. Museum leadership will continue to monitor the public health situation, and will make a new reopening announcement when it is prudent to do so.

IMPORTANT VISITOR INFORMATION
We are joining with other local public institutions to limit and/or prevent serious illness in our community.
Out of an abundance of caution, we are taking preemptive measures to protect our visitors, volunteers and staff from the spread of seasonal influenza and the COVID-19 coronavirus.
To combat the spread of germs and illness, we are:
- Placing sanitizer stations in public spaces throughout the Museum.
- Asking all who are feeling ill to visit the Museum on another day.
- Asking all visitors to practice proper hand washing procedures. The guidelines set forth by the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are posted in all Museum restroom facilities.
- Asking all groups to adhere to the Museum’s hand sanitation policy.
- Regularly sanitizing public surfaces – tables, handrails, benches, and the like – for the protection of everyone.
We also ask that visitors practice general precautions of their own while at the Museum, including:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Use the available public sanitizer stations
