Remembering John Lewis
The Newark Museum of Art salutes John Lewis (1940-2020).
He taught us what it means to fight for basic human dignity. He showed us the power of never, ever giving up. He was truly one of the great heroes in the history of our nation. Rest In Power.

The gay rights liberation movement emerged after a period of civil rights activism and reminds us of the importance of alliances in marginalized communities and the value of protest today.
While we aren’t able to gather together at the Museum, we share this flag as part of our mission to welcome everyone with inclusive experiences that spark curiosity and foster community.
Also, The Newark Museum of Art participated in NewarK Pride Week 2020 on Saturday July 18th. To view videos of the programs presented throughout the day, go to our Facebook video page.
